Kristin Braun at the 2009 Gold Cup
The Resident Athlete Program enjoyed great success at the Gold Cup hosted by the Bloomfield Archers on May 23 and 24, 2009. Both the men’s and women’s team were very successful and several personal records were shot over the weekend.
The big story was the domination of the women’s team. Three of the RA women finished in the top 4 of the final rounds on Sunday. Kristin Braun qualified 3rd with a personal best Fita score of 1290. She went on to win the Silver Medal in the finals. Heather Koehl won the Bronze Medal by defeating fellow Resident Athlete Megan Carter in the Bronze Medal Match 94-85. Emily Blake also finished well. Emily defeated the #2 qualifier in the 1/8 round before losing to team mate Megan Carter in the quarter finals. Barbie Cyin finished 34th.
In the men’s division, Brady Ellison was the #1 qualifier and won the Bronze Medal in the finals over Thomas Stanwood 112-108. Ellison tied his personal record in the 1/16 Round with a score of 116 out of 120!

Jake Kaminski at the 2009 Gold Cup
Jake Kaminski finished 5th after losing a close match to former Olympian Butch Johnson 108-106. Tyler Domenech placed 7th in the finals after a close match with Canadian Crispin Duenas.
The Resident Athlete Team will head directly to Atlanta, GA following the Gold Cup to prepare for the upcoming World Team Selection Trials in Conyers, GA.
