Las Vegas, NV – Jake Kaminski led from the first day of the 2010 World Archery Festival with a 298 out of 300. After that he never looked back and averaged a 295 for the entire competition beating out several former Olympic medalists and a world champion.

Kaminski said of his first major victory, “I’m very satisfied to finally come through in a tournament and hit all the goals I planned for this event. And I’m really thankful for all the sponsors and family who have supported me. It feels good to give back to the coaches and sponsors who support me on a daily basis by finally reaching the top of the podium.”

Brady Ellison was the other big story for the weekend. Ellison’s finish in Nimes, France earlier this year qualified him for the World Indoor Archery Challenge. The stage was set with several internationally competitive archers qualifying to compete for the $2000 1st place prize.Brady Ellison after winning the World Indoor Challenge

In the semi-final match, Ellison came back from a deficit to tie Thomas Aubert of France 115-115. On the single arrow shoot off, Ellison fired a 10 to Aubert’s 9 advancing him to the finals. In the gold medal match, Ellison faced former World Champion and current world record holder Michelle Frangilli of Italy. Ellison started off with a solid score and went on to easily defeat Frangilli 118-114.

In the women’s championship division, Resident Athletes Heather Koehl and Kristin Braun finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Braun also competed in the World Indoor Archery Challenge and finished 4th. The highlight of the competition was her quarter final match where she shot a 117 out of a possible 120.

Other notable finishes for the week included Resident Athlete Joe Fanchin who tied for first place in the Flights Division but finished 2nd on the tie breaker.
